Park Hill Land Conservancy

Our Mission:

The Park Hill Land Conservancy:

  • establishes conservation easements to preserve open space;
  • works on habitat restoration, reclamation and rehabilitation projects;
  • has an urban and community forestry program; and,
  • provides information on urban environmental issues.

The Land Conservancy is led by a board of 9 volunteer members (see list below) who meet on the second Tuesday of each month. If you would like to attend a meeting or consider joining the board, please contact Gail Averill for more information and location.

PHLC works with the City on planting and maintenance of City trees throughout the neighborhood. If you have a question or need a tree on city property near your home, please contact any board member.

PHLC has a program to plant free trees in front yards on private property. Contact Gail Averill for more information.

The Park Hill Land Conservancy with the Park Hill Residents' Association recently joined the NY State Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway Program. Read more about it...

These are the minutes of the December meeting of the Park Hill Land Conservancy held December 12, 2006.

The November minutes were approved
The Treasurer's Report was approved

Gail reported the planting of 5 Elm trees on Rumsey Road as part of our tree planting program at a cost of $2145.00.

John Close is writing an article for the Park Hill Reporter about the new Federal and State tax benefits of Conservation Easements.

The Park Hill Land Conservancy participated in land use and environmental issues discussions at the Community Benefits Agreement meetings hosted by Groundwork Yonkers.

The Board has developed a position paper on Waterfront Development to be distributed to elected officials and the press.

An information packet on this topic will be developed by Gail and Terry to be mailed to Park Hill residents.

Gail reported on the Master Plans for the Alexander Street and Point Street projects.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 7:30 PM at Gail's house.
